Storage Cheam Modern Slavery Statement
Introduction
This Modern Slavery Statement is made by Storage Cheam in respect of the financial year ending 31 December and sets out the steps we are taking to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our business operations and supply chains. Storage Cheam recognises that modern slavery is a serious crime and a violation of fundamental human rights. We are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business dealings.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Storage Cheam is a storage solutions provider serving personal, business, and commercial customers. Our operations include the management of storage facilities, related services, and the procurement of goods and services from third-party suppliers. Our supply chains include, but are not limited to, facility management, security, cleaning, maintenance, equipment, packaging materials, and professional services.
We understand that every part of our supply chain can present a risk of modern slavery if not properly managed, and we are committed to identifying, assessing, and minimising those risks.
Zero-Tolerance Policy on Modern Slavery
Storage Cheam operates a clear zero-tolerance approach to all forms of modern slavery and human trafficking. This applies to our own activities and to everyone directly linked to our operations, including contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers at all tiers. We do not knowingly enter into business relationships with any organisation that engages in, or is connected to, modern slavery or human trafficking.
Our zero-tolerance stance is communicated internally to employees and externally to suppliers and business partners. We expect all those who work with us to share our commitment to ethical conduct and respect for human rights.
Supplier Due Diligence and Audits
We are strengthening our procurement and supplier management processes to better identify and manage modern slavery risks. This includes conducting risk-based due diligence on new and existing suppliers, taking into account factors such as sector, geography, and the nature of the goods or services supplied.
Where appropriate, we carry out audits or request evidence of suppliers' own policies and procedures relating to labour standards, human rights, and modern slavery. These audits may be conducted on-site or through documented assessments. Suppliers are expected to provide accurate and timely information and to cooperate fully with any audits or information requests.
Storage Cheam reserves the right to terminate any relationship with suppliers or contractors who fail to meet our standards or who are found to be involved in modern slavery or human trafficking.
Policies, Training, and Employee Awareness
Our commitment to combating modern slavery is supported by internal policies that promote ethical conduct, fair treatment, and safe working conditions. We seek to provide training and guidance to relevant employees so they can recognise signs of modern slavery and understand the steps to take if they have concerns.
Employees involved in procurement, supplier management, and facility operations are particularly encouraged to stay alert to potential risks and to follow our reporting procedures.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
Storage Cheam encourages anyone with concerns about modern slavery or human trafficking within our business or supply chains to report them as soon as possible. Concerns can be raised through internal line management, senior management, or established whistleblowing channels. Reports can be made confidentially, and we will take all concerns seriously.
We are committed to ensuring that no one who raises a concern in good faith suffers any form of retaliation or detrimental treatment as a result. All reports will be assessed promptly, and where necessary, investigated. Appropriate remedial or disciplinary action will be taken where issues are identified.
Continuous Improvement and Annual Review
Storage Cheam recognises that tackling modern slavery is an ongoing responsibility. We are committed to continually improving our approach by reviewing our risk assessments, policies, and due diligence procedures on a regular basis.
This Modern Slavery Statement will be reviewed at least annually by the senior management team to ensure it remains effective and reflects any changes in our business operations, supply chains, or legal requirements. Where necessary, we will update our processes, training, and controls to strengthen our ability to prevent and respond to modern slavery risks.
This statement has been approved by the leadership of Storage Cheam, who are responsible for ensuring its implementation across the organisation.
